From the author: There are many ways to improve the quality of your resume. Today - about numbers How to guarantee to improve your resume Let's digress a little from the topic “I can’t find a job” and talk about a related topic - the quality of the resume. A well-written resume in itself does not guarantee successful employment, however, it greatly facilitates the search. And when looking for a job, all ways to increase your chances are good. I have already written about the “business card principle” when writing a resume, so this topic is not entirely new, but it is voluminous - you can look at it from different angles. Numbers in a resume So, there is one very simple one and a proven way to make your resume better and more attractive. You need to add numbers there. There are already enough letters there :) For what? Let's go point by point: Firstly, the numbers are concrete. Secondly, they are measurable. Thirdly, they can be compared with other numbers. Fourthly, they are short and concise. Sales There are certain categories of professions and positions where without numbers there is absolutely nothing. These are sales specialists, production workers and top managers. Work in these areas is always digitized - there are sales plans, business development indicators, production plans. So there is no need to invent anything here - it is enough to indicate the indicators that were included in the process. If the amounts of plans, sales volumes, productivity are a trade secret, then it is quite possible to indicate indirect indicators - % of sales plan fulfillment, sales growth or cost reduction - also as a percentage. This will allow the employer to see you as a successful specialist, and will help make a decision in your favor. Service departments What should those who work in “process departments” and whose activities are not assessed in quantitative indicators do? The answer is simple and has already been invented - we need to digitize the quality of work. Advanced companies have KPIs (key performance indicators), which can be reflected as achievements in work. If KPIs have not been set, you can invent them yourself. What might attract an employer's attention? Anything that improves business efficiency to one degree or another. If you work in a commercial company and do not directly influence the increase in profits, then you must reduce costs. This could be reducing the time for some operation, reducing the time required to review applications, optimizing processes, saving company resources. Business scaleWhat else can be expressed in numbers? Something that will help the employer assess the scale of your activities relative to his coordinate system. For example, you can reflect the number of subordinate employees, the number of branches, the area of retail or office premises - everything that will allow you to compare the amount of work that you performed with what the employer has. Let me give you an example from the personnel field - with the same knowledge, you can keep records at an enterprise with a staff of 50 people and with a staff of 500 people. The intensity of work will vary significantly. Conclusion I hope that I managed to convince you that numbers in a resume are necessary - they increase the employee’s chances of being noticed, characterize him as a person who does not just do the job “from pick-up to lunch”, but understands the essence business and your role in the prosperity of the company. Another point - it is better to indicate real numbers, no matter how much you want to inflate your figures, since it is quite easy to check these data.
