Continuing the analysis of the use of the projective drawing test of DDT in therapy, I propose post-drawing survey questions for the third category of the “Tree” technique. Previous parts can be viewed here DDC (part 1), DDC (part 2). A drawing of a tree is traditionally considered not only a symbolic self-portrait of the person himself, but also a reflection of the nature of his connections with society. Questions in this category allow you to assess the characteristics of the patient’s growth and development, his personally significant experience, basic potential and its resource component, the level of social adaptation. TREE What kind of tree is this? Question of identification and symbolic characteristics What is the approximate age of this tree? The question can assess the personal- significant past experience Do you think this tree looks more like a man or a woman? Why? Who does this tree remind you of? Why? The question clarifies the relationship to sexual symbols, and can also become the beginning of direct projections. Is this tree alive? Is this tree healthy? Is this tree strong? What in the picture confirms this? The question clarifies the patient's intrapersonal integration and socialization. A negative response may be considered an indicator of feelings of inferiority, worthlessness, guilt, or social isolation and requires further clarification. Is the tree dead? What caused the death of the tree? How did this happen? When did it happen? Is there a living part of this tree? It updates memories of traumatic events, experiences, their duration, causes, etc..
