How can I be happy when there are so many people suffering around me? Do you feel guilty about your own well-being or positive emotions? I know this first hand. At one time I had to work through these beliefs for quite a long time. What creates the feeling of guilt in this case? sense of justice lack of value of oneself as an individual the importance of other people's opinions (what will people think?) imposed beliefs from one of the adults Let's sort it out in order. 1⃣Is there any justice in life in principle? At any given time, in different places, both good and bad things happen. Someone is fighting a war, someone is celebrating a birthday, someone is achieving career heights, someone is dying. Well, it doesn’t happen that everything is fine for everyone at the same time. Another thing is involvement. How much do you CHOOSE to be involved in a particular event. And for how long? What does this give you? Why are you doing this? For whom? For what? You can answer these questions directly in writing. To clarify and better understand the vector of your path in life. 2⃣I am a small person and my feelings are not comparable to what others feel. They are much worse off. Without censorship, every person has had or is going through enough crap in their life. Usually our family and friends help us cope. People we don’t know don’t care at all about our fate. They can sympathize for 10 minutes and go on with their lives. You are value. You are there. You are in charge of your emotions. You have the right to experience any emotions at any time. If it supports you or there is a need to express pain. 3⃣What will people think? We cannot control what others think. And how they feel. How they assess the current situation and other people. They have their own perception of the world. Which, more often than not, others cannot change. Everyone has their own path, in their own shoes. Remember, it is important to be able to separate your own from someone else’s. 4⃣And a few words about beliefs. How can you be happy/successful/rich/joyful when there are so many unhappy/poor/etc. around? This is a reference to injustice and a kind of manipulation. The person who says this most often suffers and wants to be the same (successful, for example). It devalues you as a person and your achievements and imposes a feeling of guilt. This needs to be nipped in the bud. Every person has the right to be happy. At any given time. There are a huge number of opportunities and resources in the world. And why should you feel guilty when you managed to find opportunities and resources? This is your personal merit. Everyone chooses for themselves how much and how long they will suffer.
