Psychologists love to talk about confidence, but not everyone is aware that confidence/uncertainty can largely depend on the unconscious. This does not mean mental parameters, but biochemical/hormonal ones. For example, you can add about the biochemistry of mood - a number of studies have shown that depression may depend on the normalization of intestinal microflora. The explanation is quite simple - I previously mentioned serotonin and the feeling of happiness, and up to 80% serotonin is produced by intestinal bacteria. There are studies on testosterone. Read more about testosterone in the book by neuroscientist R. Sapolsky “The Biology of Good and Evil”, partially translated into Russian, you can read here. There are a number of studies on the effect of testosterone on confidence. One of them compared testosterone and the stress hormone cortisol (yes, cortisol is the most important hormone for the cardiovascular system, but when it is normal, not in excess). In this study, when subjects were asked to assume the body position of a super confident person, the analysis showed an increase in testosterone and normalization of cortisol. If the subject occupied an uncertain body position, cortisol increased, testosterone decreased. To refute or confirm this hypothesis, you can try to do the following exercise: Exercise “Learning by Model” Think about a model of a very confident person, endowed with qualities that you like or need at the moment time, and you think that you lack these qualities. The model should be closer to you in terms of gender, age, nationality and other qualities that are attractive to you. If you don’t have a model, come up with one. Create an image by thinking through his character qualities, manner of dressing, tone and timbre of voice, skin and hair color, age, his behavior and character qualities, his ability to cope with what is still difficult for you. And as an exercise for 10-15 minutes " pretend to be" him, reproducing his voice, character, movements, gait, actions. When portraying him, you can do this exercise in front of people you trust or in front of a mirror. Do this exercise until you discover these qualities in yourself. Good luck to us everyone in achieving their goals and objectives.
