Sometime in 2008, I first came as a psychologist to the “Caring” Complex Center. At that time, I had absolutely no practical experience in psychology, but I had great interest and passion for exploring new territories. By 2012, I already felt the strength and need to bring something new to my work. I wrote and implemented two programs for working with personnel: a lecture-practical course “Techniques and technologies for communicating with the elderly and disabled” and a training “We are a team”, aimed at increasing the adaptive potential of our center’s teams. Now I feel that I can bring real benefit.[/url]The main workload is due to providing psychological assistance to the center’s clients, the elderly and disabled, as well as consulting the center’s staff (including on issues of interaction with clients): social workers, nurses, administration. A lot of time is also devoted to the methodological part: psychologists participate in the implementation of new innovative projects of the center (currently there are projects “Alternative” and “Dementia”), psychological programs are written on the basis of these projects, new categories of clients are mastered (project “Alternative” - work is carried out with persons who have received disabilities for the first time); psychologists develop programs for working with staff and clients, in such areas as optimizing interaction with clients, uniting center teams, preventing professional burnout; studying literature on psychology, attending advanced training courses; exchanging experience on methodological association, held monthly at the center. Currently, successful interaction has been established with third-party organizations that are partners of our center: the Psychoneurological Dispensary, on the basis of which the School of Mental Health is held, designed to inform the center’s employees about ways to interact with clients with mental disorders. In addition, IPA specialists collaborate with the psychological service of our center, assist in accompanying clients with newly diagnosed mental illnesses. Psychoneurological boarding school for the elderly and disabled (collaboration with a clinical psychologist). Psychologists of the center effectively replace each other during vacations and “unforeseen rest” thereby gaining invaluable experience of interacting with a new category of clients: young disabled people, people newly diagnosed with disabilities and people with mental illnesses. I would also like to dwell on the description of the psychological work with clients of the center. The field of gerontopsychology is poorly developed at the level of the city of Cherepovets, and much has to be mastered and implemented for the first time. But this is what makes our work different. This brings to it, on the one hand, a certain complexity, and on the other hand, allows you to feel like a pioneer. We conduct psychological diagnostics with clients (usually cognitive processes, the emotional sphere), provide individual consultations, and also conduct relaxation classes with musical accompaniment. The latter direction has proven to be very popular. Clients, in the process of working with a psychologist, become less anxious, look more consciously at the changes taking place in their lives, and react to negative experiences. Sometimes situations arise when it is difficult to hold back your tears: The realization that apart from you and social workers, the elderly person simply has no one to rely on, no one wants or can listen, just hold your hand, cheer, smile, or relive joyful times together and sad moments of the past. Understanding how important your every visit to a client’s home is. Their quiet joy is that the lesson will take place, that their house is not empty. Sadness that not all elderly and disabled people who find themselves in difficult life situations can be helped. That there is an unreached category of people who quietly and imperceptibly fade away alone. Describing in the documentation cases of interaction with.
